It may come as no surprise, but I always wanted to work as a chef. I didn’t realise that I would become a raw food chef, but my own journey of self-discovery with food has taken me to some pretty incredible places and realisations.

My ‘journey’ began at the sweet age of 16, working in some of the best restaurants and hotels around the world; surrounded by established chefs who inspired me to learn and grow in my vocation. As you well know, being a chef comes with its difficulties and many turn to alcohol and drugs to deal with the demands of the job, but not me. I was hungry (excuse the pun!) for more and despite working long hours, my release was simply being as healthy and fit as possible.

By taking a closer look at the food I was preparing for people, I became aware of both the benefits and pitfalls of nutrition and what would nourish our bodies so that we, in turn, could be the best version of ourselves. In short, this is what led me to drastically change my diet.

The Standard Journey

Yes, I went through this journey, too. My plant-based diet began by taking the decision to adopt a vegan lifestyle and exploring the endless ways of living without meat and dairy. This experience changed my life for the better.

My body was cleansed and taught me what I do and don’t need. I then began to slowly reintroduce different foods. My body and its reaction to various foods indicated what worked and didn’t work for me.

To this day, I have never felt the need to eat meat since my body is completely satisfied with what it receives through other foods. What works for one person, may not for another. It’s that journey of self-discovery. Your self-discovery and your journey.
