Raw Vegan Cinnamon Rolls
Posted on February 11, 2015 by Jasmine Briones in Desserts
There’s nothing like ooey, gooey cinnamon rolls in the morning. The ooeyness and the gooeyness of these raw, mouth-watering confections is courtesy of three simple ingredients: bananas, dates, and cinnamon. It really simplicity itself. But don’t let the simplicity fool you. These things are rich. The cinnamon and dates do an amazing job of recreating the taste and texture of traditional cinnamon rolls. Obviously, using bananas instead of flour makes for a different experience, but you’d be surprised just how sweet and rich these things are. Make sure to use soft, ripe bananas. The slightly harder taste of green bananas subtracts from the overall effect, and they’re harder to roll without breaking. So wait until you start seeing some brown spots. The biggest challenge with these simple cinnamon rolls is to keep yourself from eating them before they’re ready. It takes a while for these to dehydrate to the proper consistency. Remember: patience is a virtue. |

Note: I cut with the curve of the banana, not against it. Since some of the bananas are in a C-shape, cut along the banana drawing a C shape so that you get a straight instead if curved piece. You can roll several slices around one another to get thicker cinnamon rolls. I purchased the Royal Treatment sampler box from 7Hot Dates. You can even take whole cinnamon sticks and grind them in a high speed blender to make your own fresh cinnamon powder for this recipe.
