What makes this smoothie so darn pretty? Those in the know, know! Can you guess? It’s pretty obvious once you’ve figured it out.
That’s right! It’s a little bit of beet. And a little beet goes a long way. Not only are they nutritious and delicious, but they make for a wonderful natural and healthy food coloring. Whip up a strawberry coconut cream smoothie right now, and feel the beet!

Chocolate Pudding Green Smoothie
This chocolate pudding green smoothie is a great alternative to hot chocolate on a cozy winter afternoon! Now obviously we’re using the term ‘green’ a bit loosely here: this smoothie looks about as green as any chocolate pudding. But with a handful of swiss chard and a helping of avocado, it’s got plenty of green goodness in it, too.
This isn’t the first time we’ve shared with you a recipe which is a the smoothie version of something else. And it probably won’t be the last. Because smoothie versions of other things are so darn fun, easy, tasty, and even healthful! So enjoy a gulp today.
Carrot Cake Banana Smoothie
It’s a carrot cake, but in a cup! Sweet, delicious, and packed full of all sorts of healthful nutrients and phytochemicals. It makes for a great afternoon snack, an invigorating breakfast, or even as a health-conscious dessert!
With tons of vitamin A, plenty of vitamin C, fiber, potassium, and a fair amount of protein, it all comes in at less than 200 calories. Sometimes you want the comforting taste of carrot cake. Monkey Power Chocolate Smoothie
We are primates! We sometimes forget that fact, especially those of us who spend most of our days on our butts. But it’s true! And like all monkeys, we need to stay active to stay healthy. And as a monkey, after a session of monkeying about you need to replenish! Monkeys replenish with bananas and coconuts, so should you too!
This super fun chocolate smoothie has got the benefits of potassium, magnesium, vitamins A and C, and electrolytes to help you bounce back after a workout. It’s also got electrolytes, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatories. And it’s got chocolate! Harness your inner monkey, enjoy a Monkey Power Chocolate Smoothie!
Goji Apple Smoothie
There’s a lot of smoothies out there. We’ve all probably got our favorites. Well this Goji Apple Smoothie is Emily von Euw’s favorite (for now), and who are we mere mortals to question her smoothie judgement? You’ve got the regular suspects: your apples and your bananas. Then you’ve got your grapes: a common fruit but one not often seen in smoothies.
Then, of course, you’ve got your goji berries. As you’re no doubt aware by now, goji berries have been taking the world by storm with their long list of health benefits. On top of that, they’re pretty delicious.
Mocha Frappuccino Smoothie
Mocha Frappuccino Smoothies seem to have become as much a part of contemporary life as text messaging and selfies. But just like text messaging and selfies, you’ve often got to sift through a lot of junk.
Also like text messages and selfies, it’s always better to make your own! This mocha frappuccino smoothie is full of nutritious wholefood ingredients and without any added sugars! It’s a frap that’s actually good for you. Trendy and healthy! That’s a double win. With a little bit of tiramisu, you’ll never have to leave your house again!
Apple Pie In a Smoothie
Fall is approaching, and that means many great things. One of the greatest, of course, is the return of apple season! And what better way to enjoy this most wonderful of fruits than a nice apple pie? Well, if you’re a smoothie person, how about an apple pie smoothie!
This smoothie really is pretty much a no-bake apple pie in a cup, but with the welcome addition of banana for some creaminess and almond milk for some liquidness. It’s all the best parts of apple pie! More transportable, and with nothing not to love. Welcome the approaching autumn with open arms and a full cup. Of apple pie smoothie.
Green Glowing Smoothie Bowl
Well folks, it’s no secret that it’s been a hot summer. Even the TV weather people are finally starting to seem a little bit less excited by another day of record-setting heat. If you’re looking to stay cool on the outside, then you might as well get cool on the inside!
This Green Glowing Smoothie Bowl is like a delicious fruit salad in ice cream form. But instead of the sugar and junk you might find in that regular old ice cream we all remember from our younger days, you’ve got basil leaves, kale, and a plethora of lovely fruits!
It’s like nice cream, but it’s a smoothie bowl. A smoothie in a bowl. Come on!
Mango Peach Matcha Layered Smoothie
Don’t be fooled by the name of this smoothie! Mango and peach might be the two central ingredients, but there’s a lot more going on here than just those two wonderful fruits! We’ve got bananas, we’ve got celery, we’ve got chia and coconut water. We’ve even got some turmeric.
And that’s just for the base layer! Some of the really fun stuff comes in on the next layer. Here we’ve got our spirulina, our hemp seeds, and of course, our matcha powder. All these high-energy, protein and nutrient rich foods make this an excellent smoothie to enjoy after a good workout.
Of course, you should feel free to throw on any extras you might want. Blueberries and pomegranates make for a fine topping!
Turmeric and Mango Smoothie
Yellow is considered the color of optimism and pleasure. And you’ll have plenty to feel optimistic about once you’ve harnessed the power of this pleasantly yellow smoothie!
Turmeric is a fantastic spice. It’s actually a close relative of ginger, which also shows up in this smoothie. Like ginger, turmeric is a wonderful anti-inflammatory food that has been valued for its healing properties since time immemorial. And mango — well, what needs to be said about this lovely squishy fruit? There’s hardly a fruit in the world more suited for smoothie magic.
A little bit of coconut flakes add a little bit more of that special yumminess only coconut can bring. Another smoothie for the hall of fame. And that bit of ginger with the mango — manifique!
Pitaya Parfait Smoothie
Pitaya is a cool exotic fruit! And like all other fruits, it belongs in smoothies.
This smoothie is actually a bit more than a regular smoothie. This is a pitaya parfait! The term ‘parfait’ comes from the French word for perfect, and that’s exactly what this raw vegan layered fruit medley is!
This recipe does call for some slightly off-the-beaten path ingredients. The pitaya comes in the form of Pitaya Plus, though I’m sure you can substitute fresh pitaya if you’re so inclined. Lucuma powder is a low-glycemic sweetener, which you could also substitute for a more common alternative if you feel the need.
Pitaya is also known as dragon fruit. This parfait might look super adorable and pretty, but this thing is packed with the superlative power of these mythic beings! You will feel as limber as a lizard and as daring as a drake with all the goodness in this pitaya parfait!
Mango Coconut Green Smoothie
The first day of summer is rapidly approaching, and that means that now is as good a time as any to get on board the smoothie train.
Actually, the smoothie train runs year round. And the smoothie train stops for no one. But there is something particularly summerish about this mango coconut green smoothie. Maybe it’s the mango coconut. Whatever the cause, there’s nothing beating a green smoothie with a tropical attitude on a warm day.
And you get the benefits of all sorts of happy nutrients from the banana, the lovely spinach, and the subtle nutty goodness. If coconut and mango isn’t hitting the tropical highs you need, consider tossing in some pineapple!
Chocolate Nut Butter Smoothie
A chocolate nut butter smoothie doesn’t need much more of an introduction than that. It’s chocolate with nut butter, and it’s a smoothie. Therefore it’s the greatest thing ever.
If you haven’t been convinced that this smoothie is the greatest thing ever, consider the fact that it comes in layers. So not only is it a nut butter smoothie, with chocolate, but it’s fun and pretty at the same time. Think of other great things that have layers. Tiramisu. Cakes. Ogres. I think the point is made.
The optional cacao nib garnish is a nice way to add a bit of extra bittersweet darkness to the smoothie, and also for a bit of texture. But of course, this isn’t an all-chocolate showcase. That almond butter makes for a super creamy, delicious smoothie that will give you a boost of protein and amino acids on top of your daily recommended dose of chocolate.
Banana Coconut Omega Smoothie with Chia and Hemp
This smoothie may be the smoothie to end all smoothies, but that’s not why it’s called the Omega Smoothie! With delicious and nutritious chia and hemp seeds, this divine concoction will provide you with all sorts of essential fatty acids, not to mention antioxidants, fiber, protein, and a wide variety of nutrients and minerals. And you’ll need all these healthful nutrients as we head into the summer months of long days and fun nights.
Chia is an awesome little seed. They say they make good pets. I’m not so sure about that, but they do add a lovely gel-like thickness to recipes. Great in smoothies, these little things absorb liquid super fast and will expand to several times their original size. As a source of Omega-3s, they’ve got the advantage over flax seeds of not having to be ground up to be digested.
The rest of the Omega Smoothie ingredients need no introduction! Bananas are the all-stars of the smoothie world, and anything with fresh coconut water is bound to be energizing and refreshing. The dates add a bit of sweetness the way only dates can, and cinnamon and nutmeg round it all off with a subtle hint of spice.
The Omega Smoothie makes for a fine day at the beach. Or, if you don’t have a beach near you, a great way to visualize yourself on one anyways!
Tropical Cilantro Green Smoothie
Green smoothies are awesome. All the goodness of fruit plus the nutrient density of dark greens! This tropical green smoothie’s got a bit of a twist, with a healthy dose of cilantro adding a bit of a spicy kick to the mix.
Not everyone likes cilantro. This is an unfortunate and curious biological fact. Other people seem like they can’t get enough of it. But don’t worry, if cilantro isn’t you thing, this smoothie still rocks without it. You could substitute a little bit of jalapeno if you want a slightly different take on a spicy tropical green smoothie.
This is a particularly awesome breakfast smoothie. Super nutritious way to start your day, plus the invigorating aroma of cilantro!
